Spring 2018

AME 250 Section 1

Manuel Pacheco Integrated Learning Center, Room 150

Monday-Wednesday-Friday 2 pm–2:50 pm

Textbook: Kasdin and Paley, Engineering Dynamics

Note on the textbook: There is an electronic version of the textbook available for free through the campus network at http://lib.myilibrary.com/ProductDetail.aspx?id=300143, or http://ezproxy.library.arizona.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=1213186. The two sections of AME 250 are using different textbooks this term. If you are considering both sections, consider using the electronic version of Kasdin and Paley until you have finalized your schedule.

A full syllabus is forthcoming; check back for updates. I intend to cover roughly the first ten chapters of Kasdin and Paley, focusing on the dynamics of particles in two and three dimensions but also including some introduction to rigid body dynamics. This material is foundational for more advanced work in mechanical engineering, particularly the design of mechanisms, machinery, and the control of vehicles.
